Everything I posted, with the exception of the prize winning hogs one has already been confirmed by me, or someone else. Everything I listed is perfectly possible and has been tested.

Tough note that with the 'bottlenecking your connection': It's a rather unpredicable process. The baseline is 10 minutes before you DC (10 minutes in which no more than 1 kb has been transfered), sometimes, however, it randomly DC's you in the same way you can get an error7 whilst playing GW.

Essentially what you'll do is use your .dat, route and maybe a third party program to slow your loading time down to several hours. GW is able to maintain a connection (without DC'ing) as long as you send atleast 1 kb every 10 minutes with a constant stream of atleast several bytes. I don't know the exact numbers and inner workings, but here's the setup:

You delete your .dat file so you need to download every file, including the Northlands area. The second your partner (the one who deathlevels while you're connecting) loads in, he aggros the Charr and goes through the usual deathlevel routine. At the same time, you use a program to limit your internet traffic (or even for the GW process only) to several bytes per second with a kilobyte spike every few minutes. You'dd need several megabytes of download, so using this method, you can stretch out your load time to several hours (5-10) without actually DC'ing. Enough for the deathleveller to deathlevel them up to a certain level.

This would, however, require you to delete your .dat file after each deathlevel, but it wouldn't take that much longer than actually achieving LDoA.

As for "legal" issues: using third party programs is against the rules, but traffic limiting is something really specific. Often, parents (who know what they're doing) will limite their children's internet connection to prevent too much download or to prevent gaming, whilst still allowing regular browsing. It's definatly not against the EULA, but knowing Anet, they could possibly ban you on grounds of the "third party program" clause.

I hope this settles any confusion once and for all...
I don't think that exposing the GW Guru community to this kind of information is healthy at all. If anything, you should submit this kind of information directly to Anet for them to look into and resolve. This information encourages manipulation of GW1 files, which if [I'm not mistaken] is punishable by the EULA. So please refrain from giving away this kind of information for users to possibly try out.

It's not manipulating the .dat? Removing the .dat is intirely legal, if it weren't, it'dd be illegal to uninstall GW. (lol...)

As for slowing down connection: It would be pretty stupid if Anet banned someone for "too slow of a connection", cuz that's all it is. You're not modyfing anything, all you're doing is limiting the resources GW can use. If this were to be illegal, Anet would have to ban everyone with a slow connection, and/or a slow computer.

Wether or not manually creating such behaviour is against the EULA, technically it isn't, as you're not doing any directly against the rules.

Even if it were, there would be no way for Anet NCSoft to tell wether or not your slow loading is being causes by a program, or simply a really slow internet connection. (Which is possible)

Then knowing NCSoft and the stuff they force their employees to pull, they'll probably ban you on the spot (More bans = more revenue), but purely going from the EULA and Rules of Conduct, you're not doing anything wrong.

That was one of the most awesome things I ever read in my life. LDoA is imo the coolest title in the game and this confirms it.

I question the sanity of whoever figured that method out.

Oh I don't know. I'd say repeatedly sitting at 0% for hours while transmitting minimal data would be a pretty good indication. They use far less reliable metrics to go after RMTs.

Also their willingness to ban people who don't directly use 3rd party programs, as your monk tome thing attests, suggests that they have zero consistency and answer to no-one when handing out bans. It's basically their right to do whatever they want and the consumer (currently) has no protection.

True, but if there's workings in your area, it's a good possibility you'll get a warning from your ISP saying your Internet connection will be a bare minimum for the next X days.

It actually happened at my home not too long ago where they had to do put new wiring (under the road) and as a result, we had internet far lesser than even 56K. I remember trying to load into Random Arenas and it taking me over 2 hours.

The theory is the same, there'd be no definite way for them telling. In RWT'ing, when you've got someone giving someone else several stacks of keys/ectos despite that person never having been on his friend's list, you know what time it is.

I'd just suggest that if anyone does try to get both titles, they'd better be DAMN sure it's all legal. One of these forum dwellers got both titles using the guild hall bug... and got his account banned when he refused to delete the character. From the answers he posted, it's evident Anet doesn't like anyone to have those two titles...

How many sane people are going to keep firing up a game that takes 3+ hours to connect to an area, and actually wait on the client to keep connecting instead of closing it? And while that's bound to happen every now and then, how many people are going to "accidentally" do it the number of times LDoA would require?

It's not "foolproof" knowledge, but Anet rarely works on foolproof knowledge anyway, they way they handle rmt and botting bans.

Oh for fudge sake..

Lets shoot down a number of theory's right now.

1) The Summoning stone WILL NOT WORK, because even at lvl 12, the imp is quite capable of KILLING at least 1 Charr every time you activate it, And most players would be lvl 16+ before they started Death Leveling, meaning that that imp would also be lvl 16 = No charr left to DL after 3 hours let alone 50.

2) Buddies, no your buddy can't be the 'cannon fodder' because there are NO reusable rez skills in pre, and your buddy won't rez until you also die.

3) Monk Tomes, Gaile Gray has said on MORE than one occasion anyone found with a skill or tome in pre that shouldn't be there, will be asked to move the toon to post.
